Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has rejected reports that he would let Luka Modric join Chelsea if Fernando Torres were to come to White Hart Lane in return.
Redknapp, though, insists there is no offer of the sort on the table, saying: "No I have never heard that one.
"I think Torres is starting to look the player that we all know he can be, the player he was at Liverpool - he is a top player no doubt that about it.
"But there is no way he is coming to Tottenham and no swap deal is in the offing for Luka Modric, I think they will get the best out of him."
Spurs are determined to thwart any potential advances from Chelsea, and Redknapp is hopeful that a new deal can be agreed.
"I don't know where they are but hopefully the chairman will come to agreement and he signs a new contract, he has got a long contract anyway," Redknapp said.
The Spurs boss is on the lookout for a striker and revealed he will be watching Loic Remy play for Marseille against Lille on Sunday.
"I am off to watch Marseille," he said. "I am going to go and have a look at him [Remy], we have had reports - I watched him 18-months to two years ago. I doubt anything will come of it but we are looking."
